‘Mann Ki Baat’ is a unique initiative of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to reach the masses across the country through the Radio. The Prime Minister through his address on the radio aims to connect with the common man on regular basis and inform them about the initiatives of the Government and also seeks the support of the common man in nation building and governance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's radio broadcast programme Mann ki Baat is going to be released as a book in upcoming week. Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe who has written the preface to the book “Mann Ki Baat: a social revolution on Radio”, describes the book as it reflects Modi's strong passion for dialogue. “Talking on a one hour radio show once a month while addressing challenging tasks as Prime Minister requires tremendous efforts, I cannot but feel his strong passion for dialogue,” says Mr Abe.
Over the years the radio saw a decline. But it was PM who spotted the strength of the radio as a medium. On why he chose radio as a medium, the PM says: “I have been a quintessential organisation man all my life. I know the difference the radio can make. American Presidents used it well... So many people heard Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech on the radio. It has a transformative power like no other medium.”
'Mann Ki Baat' became one of the most popular programmes in the history of radio, not just in India but indeed worldwide. But how did this happen? What is the behind-the scenes story that made this happen? This book answers these questions and some more.
